The Lytro Camera

Every month this year I will be writing a series on every camera that I own. The first is the newest member of the bunch.

The Lytro is a new technology that enables the user to refocus the image using the software provided by Lytro. It can also do a perspective shift that looks pretty amazing. The best way to get a result from this camera is to shoot with something close and far from the camera. This would usually give a depth of field view in your ordinary camera. You still get the depth of field effect however you can adjust this from foreground to background. Try it out on the image below.

How does it work?  In a nutshell it captures the light rays from every direction; it's a little bit like some aerial survey equipment available.
